Throughout her successful career, she has amassed over five hundred awards and distinctions, including a distinction granted by the German Society of Anaesthesiology for her significant scientific contributions to the field, thereby becoming the first-ever South American researcher to be bestowed such an accolade. In addition, she is a Full Member of several prestigious societies, namely the American Thoracic Society; European Respiratory Society; American Physiological Society; Brazilian Society of Pulmonology; Brazilian Society of Physiology; Brazilian Association of Intensive Care Medicine (Sobrati); and the Brazilian Association of Cell and Gene Therapy.
